In response to the recent examination results released by the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK), NED University of Engineering and Technology has revised its admission requirements for the upcoming 2024 academic year across its diverse programs.
Following a notable number of students failing the intermediate exams, a surge of reevaluation appeals was submitted to BIEK, prompting action from the interim Sindh government. A committee was formed to investigate the discrepancies within the examination processes.
The committee's inquiry revealed irregularities in the grading of key subjects such as English, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, with accountability placed on eight BIEK officials for these discrepancies.
To address the impact on students, NED University has adjusted its admission test eligibility criteria, reducing the minimum required percentage from 60% to 55% in intermediate results. This modification aligns with the findings from BIEK and aims to support those affected by the exam irregularities.
The university is expected to release an official statement regarding the updated admission guidelines once approved by its governing body. NED University is scheduled to conduct its admission tests for the upcoming session in May, as confirmed by university officials.
This proactive response by NED University underscores its commitment to ensuring fair opportunities for all aspiring students amidst evolving educational landscapes.
