Introduction
NED University of Engineering and Technology took a momentous step by establishing the Thar Institute of Engineering, Sciences & Technology (TIEST) in Islamkot, within the heart of Tharparkar, Sindh, located approximately 350 kilometers east of Karachi. The primary mission of this institute is to nurture and cultivate highly skilled professionals from the marginalized and underprivileged communities residing in this region, while also supplying a proficient labor force for the rapidly growing coal mining and power generation industries of the province. TIEST commenced its journey in 2019, offering a Bachelor of Science program in Computer Science, and in 2021, introduced a program in Civil Engineering. The future holds the promise of additional engineering programs, including Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Mining Engineering, thus amplifying its impact on the region's educational landscape.
